Please join us for the final field trip of the 2018-2019 birding season. The first stop will be at the turnoff to Sequoia Lake to bird on foot a ways down the Millwood Road; then on to Grant Grove Village (park entrance fee or pass required) where we’ll bird around the meadow behind the store and possibly into the adjacent Crystal Springs Campground. Depending on the time we may go down to Grant Grove itself before heading up to the Panoramic Point trailhead for lunch and afterward walk up to the point. Woodpeckers, nuthatches, warblers, vireos, sparrows, finches, tanagers and towhees may reasonably be expected on this outing. (We saw a Northern Goshawk up at Panoramic Point one year – but not to be expected). We should be done between 1pm and 2pm.
We will meet at the parking lot of Walmart at Ashlan and Blackstone at 7:45 am for a 8:00 am departure.
A second assembly point will be the Forest Service office in Dunlap on the left side of H-180 just past Hopewell Rd.
Checklist: binoculars, scope, field guide, snacks, lunch, water, sunscreen, hat, radios
